.avi is the videos format that is available in the market  which is abbreviated as the audio video interface and it is one of the oldest video format that is available in the market ,more probably the avi  format is supported by the all computer running the windows operating system and the avi format is supported by the all famous web browser  .It IS very common format in the internet but the only drawback it is very difficult to play this format in the non-windows computer
